National Nutrition Month – Fight Cancer by Eating These 6 Nutritious Foods

An Important part of a healthy lifestyle is a well-balanced meal. It is even more important when it comes to fighting cancer. A multitude of steps need to be taken in order to fight and prevent cancer but an ounce of prevention is indeed better than a pound of the cure. This national nutrition month, along with plenty of rest and exercise dona��t forget to involve these healthy foods in your diet to fend-off the dangerous cancer cells.

Broccoli

When mom says eat your greens you should listen to her. It turns out that these super veggies, if incorporated raw into your diet are proven in fighting cancer because they convert estrogen (which is the female hormone and can cause cancer when they are found in higher concentrations in onea��s bloodstream) into a safer form, thereby significantly reducing the risk of estrogen-linked cancers. It is proven in fighting colon and rectal cancers.

Grapefruits

Grapefruits are known for their cancer fighting properties and also help fighting breast cancer, so if you are considering fruit juices, you can have grape fruit without any added sugar, it will provide you some fiber with its pulp and it has very less sugar in it which helps fight carcinogenic substances left in your system after you eat fast foods which are high fat and low fiber, a deadly combination when it comes to cancer.

Oranges and Lemons

These two yummy fruits are very helpful and potent when it comes to fighting cancer. They stimulate the lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) that are part of the lymphatic system, and are equipped to fight against cancer cells and cancerous growths as a white blood cell should. Oranges and lemons are flavor enhancers to drinks as they do contain a higher amount of sugars, such as fructose, than grape fruit so if you suffer from cancer, you should consult your medical professional before using these fruits in your diet.

Garlic

Garlic is a very potent vegetable. Previously thought to ward off vampires, these veggies deserve the position of a cancer-fighting super-food because of its potent properties. It contains your daily recommended dose of sulfides which boosts your immune systems and your body fights cancer more effectively. Garlic is also known for slowing down the growth of tumors in the body and even blocking carcinogenic substances.

Cabbage, Cauliflower and Kale

Lutein and zeaxanthin are two powerful antioxidants that these powerful veggies are known to contain can ward off prostate cancer and many free radicals that cause cancer and even destroy cell membranes, proteins and DNA. So incorporate these ingredients into fruit and vegetable smoothies so that you can fight cancer with the help of the two antioxidants.

Tomatoes

These fruits, yes fruits, have Vitamin-C and lycopene which is an antioxidant as well, and is known to give the tomato its red color. It neutralizes free radicals and the vitamin C repairs the damaged cells. So having these sprinkled on your food will not only provide that tangy flavor boost to them but it will even help you to fight cancer with an intense flavor addition to your food.
